A booking appeared in Siri Suggestions on Mac: confirm it or ignore it
A flight or restaurant booking found in Mail can appear as a suggested event before you confirm it into another calendar. Check its source and details before creating a duplicate. Ignoring one suggestion is a narrower action than disabling the Siri Suggestions calendar.
Fictional dinner-booking record check
| Item | What it represents | Appropriate next decision |
|---|---|---|
| Confirmation message | Provider’s booking details | Use it to verify date and venue |
| Siri Suggestions entry | Unconfirmed suggested event | Add to intended calendar or Ignore |
| Owned calendar appointment | Your saved planning record | Check destination and duplicate identity |
Find the suggestion and the actual booking
Apple says recognized details from known providers can appear in the Siri Suggestions calendar, in the Other section of Mac Calendar’s list. Examples include flights, restaurant reservations and car rentals. A suggested entry is not evidence that you intentionally created a separate event in your personal calendar.
For a fictional dinner booking, compare the confirmation message with the suggestion’s date, time and venue. Also check whether you already saved an appointment manually. Keep the confirmation available while deciding which calendar record should represent the plan.
Confirm into the intended calendar
Apple documents opening the suggestion at its proposed date or finding it in the Calendar notifications list. In the Info window, Add to Calendar uses the default calendar. The calendar menu in the upper-right corner lets you choose another destination; the notifications list also offers a destination choice by holding Add to Calendar.
Choose the actual personal or shared destination you intend. A suggestion for a private booking should not be added to a broadly shared schedule merely because that schedule is currently the default. Reopen the saved event to check its destination and details.
Ignore one suggestion or disable the feature deliberately
To remove a suggested event, Apple documents Ignore. Use that narrow operation when this specific suggestion is unwanted. It does not establish that the underlying booking was cancelled or that its email was removed.
To turn the feature off on the Mac, Apple documents System Settings > Siri > Siri Suggestions & Privacy, then Calendar and Show Siri Suggestions in application. Importantly, turning it off deletes unconfirmed suggestions and hides the Siri Suggestions calendar. Do not treat that as a harmless visibility-only experiment when you still want to review pending suggestions.
Check for duplicate records without deleting a reservation
For the dinner example, mark each item as a source confirmation, an unconfirmed suggestion or an owned calendar event. If a duplicate-looking entry remains, identify its calendar before removing anything. A reservation email and a calendar record are different objects.
This is Apple’s Mac workflow, not a claim that Cloud Calendars parses Mail or displays a Siri Suggestions inbox. Use the owning app’s controls and preserve the actual booking while correcting the planning view.
