Meeting links that appear without you fetching them
The link is never the interesting part of a meeting, and yet it reliably takes the most steps.
What most people assume
That generating a call link is a two-second job not worth automating.
Small friction, large multiple
Two minutes of switching apps, generating, copying and pasting, several times a week, is hours a year spent on the least valuable part of scheduling.
It is also where the mistakes live: the stale link, the wrong meeting, the one nobody could join.
What generates what
Google Meet links can be created automatically on the paid tier, on events in a Google calendar. Microsoft Teams links come with the top tier, alongside Outlook and Exchange sync.
Both attach to the event itself, so whoever opens the invitation has the link, and moving the event does not orphan it.
The numbers
| What it describes | Value |
|---|---|
| Monthly cost of automatic Meet links, in dollars | 0.49 |
| Monthly cost of the tier with Teams links, in dollars | 4.99 |
What it looks like
What to do
- Let the event create the link rather than pasting one in.
- If you paste a link, paste it into the event and not into the description of a message.
- Check the link survived when you move a recurring meeting.
