Where Google Keep reminders went: finding them in Google Tasks
Google announced that Keep reminders would move to Tasks in the second half of 2025. Its help page still uses that dated future-tense wording, so it does not prove that every account has completed migration. Use the documented markers and behavior below to check your actual reminders. Arte Soft develops Cloud Calendars.
Migration outcomes
| Keep reminder | After migration (per Google) | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Timed, recent | Task with same data, From Keep | None |
| Repeating | Repeating task; interval capped at 1,000 units | Check very long intervals |
| Location-based | No location trigger; location in description | Add a date and time |
| Non-repeating, over a year old | “Old Google Keep Reminders” list | Review or delete |
| Workspace with Tasks off | Not migrated | Ask the administrator |
What most people assume
Keep reminders were deleted.
Check the account rather than assume the rollout state
Google’s page describes new Keep reminders being saved as Tasks and existing reminders moving with their data. It names the second half of 2025 as the migration period but still phrases that announcement in future tense. Treat the behaviors below as Google’s documented migration design, not a fresh measurement that every current account has finished it.
Look in your calendar grid in Google Calendar and in your task list. Google says the task details show “From Keep”.
What changed
Location-based reminders: Google says you can no longer create or receive them; existing location data can be reviewed in the task description. If you relied on “remind me when I get to the shop”, you now need a time instead.
Long titles are shortened. Repeating reminders are capped: Google says the maximum interval for repeating tasks in Calendar is 1,000 days, weeks, months or years, and longer intervals are adjusted down. Dates beyond the year 3000 are adjusted to 2900.
Notification and title changes deserve their own check. Google says reminder notifications no longer come from Keep;install Calendar or Tasks on the mobile device and allow its notifications. To rename the reminder, use Tasks or Calendar:changing only the Keep note’s title does not update the reminder title. The From Keep link can return you to the original note.
Reminders that may not be where you expect
Google gives a 100,000-task limit and says that if the number of Keep reminders exceeds that limit, the oldest reminders do not migrate. Non-repeating reminders older than a year go to Old Google Keep Reminders. For work or school accounts, the Tasks service must be enabled;Google also excludes reminders for suspended Workspace licenses. Check the actual account and ask the administrator rather than infer a migration result from a missing row.
Worked example: a checklist after migration
For an illustration conditional on migration, a user compares three Keep reminders:an old one-off passport reminder, a plant reminder every 3 days and a former post-office location reminder. They first look for From Keep and compare the original notes, without assuming the dated rollout notice proves what happened in their account.
The documented outcomes would put the non-repeating reminder older than a year in Old Google Keep Reminders, retain an ordinary three-day interval within the stated limit, and keep former location data in the task description without a location trigger. The user can add a time if a scheduled reminder fits the real need. They also check Calendar or Tasks notification permission and avoid renaming only the Keep note when the reminder title needs changing.
Check: open each Keep note and confirm the reminder is shown there and in Tasks.

What to do
- Check the actual account for From Keep markers rather than treating the old announcement date as proof of migration.
- Open Google Tasks and the Calendar grid and look for “From Keep”.
- Check the “Old Google Keep Reminders” list.
- Give former location reminders a date and time.
- Check repeating reminders with very long intervals.
- On a work account, ask the administrator if nothing migrated.
- For missing notifications, check Calendar or Tasks installation and notification permission;for a reminder title change, edit it in Tasks or Calendar, not only the Keep note.
Questions
- Can I still set a location reminder in Keep?
- Google says you can no longer create or get location-based reminders.
- I can’t find an old reminder.
